The Audit Committee scrutinises the council's financial affairs and governance. It reviews internal audit reports, the effectiveness of internal controls, and the Annual Governance Statement, recommending its adoption by the Council. The committee also approves the annual statement of accounts, considering accounting policies and any audit concerns. It advises on and reviews the council's treasury management strategy and the Members' Code of Conduct, monitoring compliance and considering Ombudsman reports.
