Full council record

Purpose

The purpose is to revise Constitution to Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet for approval, and request full council make any consequential amendments to the Constitution as necessary.

Decision

The Cabinet Member reviewed and adopted the revised Constitution to Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet for approval, and requested full council make any consequential amendments to the Constitution as necessary.

Reasons for the decision

The Joint Waste Committee (JWC) has an existing constitution which has presented some challenges in terms of meeting frequency, decision making and flexibility.

In line with a request from the JWC, the constitution has been reviewed to ensure it remains fit for purpose, reflects current governance arrangements, and supports effective joint working between the Partner Councils.

The proposed revised constitution retains the original legal framework but has been modernised and simplified to improve clarity, readability, and usability.

Alternative options considered

The Cabinet Member may alternatively choose not to proceed with the revised constitution.
