Purpose

To call off a fixed supply of electricity and related services contract to 31st March 2027 for all MCC-associated sites. These supplies are on the MCC electricity framework but invoices are not paid by MCC.

Decision

The City Treasurer & Deputy Chief Executive agrees to call of a fixed term contract for the supply of electricity and electricity related services to Manchester City Council’s Associated Sites portfolio.

This will be a direct award on the council’s framework for the supply of electricity and related services.

The current associated electricity contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026, if a new contract is not signed prior to this date stakeholders on the Manchester City Council electricity framework will fall onto out of contract rates which will increase costs significantly.

Furthermore, the current electricity wholesale market remains unstable, any small changes could increase the electricity wholesale market and it would be in the best interest of the council to be able to obtain a fixed priced contract while the market remains stable

As such the Chair of Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee has exempted this decision from Call In
