Purpose
To call off a fixed supply of gas contract to 31 March 2027 for all MCC corporate estate.
Decision
The City Treasurer and Interim Deputy Chief Executive agrees call of a fixed term contract for the supply of gas to MCC’s corporate estate as well as associated supplies on the MCC gas framework.
This will be a direct award on the council’s framework for the supply of gas.
The current gas supply contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026, if a new contract is not signed prior to this date stakeholders on the Manchester City Council electricity framework will fall onto out of contract rates which will increase costs significantly.
Furthermore, the current gas wholesale market remains unstable, any small changes could increase the gas wholesale market and it would be in the best interest of the council to be able to obtain a fixed priced contract while the market remains stable
As such the Chair of Resourecs and Governance Scrutiny Committee has exempted this decisio from Call In
