Newcastle Council Approves Key Financial Plan Amendments
The Newcastle upon Tyne Council held a Cabinet meeting on Monday, 24 June 2024. The primary focus was on approving a Deed of Variation with a strategic partner as part of the Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP). The Cabinet authorised the Director of Resources to finalise necessary arrangements and consultations related to this decision.
Strategic Partnership Update
The Cabinet reviewed the current arrangements with its strategic partners as part of the ongoing work on the MTFP. The report presented sought approval for a Deed of Variation with one of the Authority’s partners. The decision was made to agree to the proposed settlement and authorise the Director of Resources, in consultation with relevant Cabinet Members and officials, to conclude all necessary arrangements.
The Cabinet also authorised the Director of Resources to commence and finalise consultations with affected employees and their Trade Unions regarding the transfer of staff pursuant to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE)1. This includes any other matters related to the employees affected by this decision.
Additionally, the Director of Resources was authorised to novate, extend, and procure any associated third-party contracts in consultation with the Director of Regeneration and Economic Development and the Head of Law.
The meeting concluded with the scheduling of the next Cabinet meeting for Monday, 24 June 2024, at 6.00pm.
