Purpose

This report will provide details of a successful bid, made jointly with North Tyneside Council, for £1.6m of funding to improve road safety on the A188. The report will seek approval to transfer £371,800 of that funding to North Tyneside for their part of the scheme, and to take forward development and delivery of the work associated with the project in Newcastle.

Decision

The recommendation from this report is to note the funding win and accept the grant to improve road safety on the A188 between Benton and Chillingham Road. This is anticipated to be delivered during 2028 following completion of the current major capital projects.
