Purpose

Approval is sought to recommission the NHS Health Check service through the PSR Direct Award Process A, awarding time-limited contracts to GP practices and replacing the current non-contractual funding arrangement with a formal contractual model. This decision is needed to ensure legal compliance with PSR regulations, maintain continuity of this statutory service, strengthen accountability and performance management, and reflect that GP practices are the only providers capable of delivering the programme due to their access to patient records, integration with care pathways, and existing data systems, while enabling time to develop a future service model.
