The Newham Special Educational Needs and
Disabilities (SEND) Commission is a time-limited group, created in
2021 with the principal function of collecting and analysing local
and national evidence in order to further Newham’s strategy
and aspirations for children and young people with SEND in the
borough. The Commission will collate and present it’s finding
to the SEND Executive Board in order to inform the 2022-2027 SEND
strategy, including an agreed partnership approach to what should
inclusion look like in Education and in Society in Newham.

The Commission Reports to the SEND Executive
Board which ultimately reports to Health and Wellbeing Board
(HWB). Its function is to advise
HWB. HWB in turn is a partnership body
under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 which reports to the
Cabinet.
