Decision

For the reasons set out in the report and its
appendices Cabinet RESOLVED to note:
 
i) 
The Best Value Notice issued to the London Borough of Newham on 8
May and the implications for all officers and Members arising from
it;
ii) 
The update on how the Council is responding to it, building on
progress made so far across the range of improvement activity that
has been underway for some time;
iii) 
The steps taken with its independent Chair, Rob Whiteman, to
strengthen the Newham Transformation & Improvement Board to
provide the Council with support, challenge and assurance as well
as to provide independent assurance to MHCLG; and
iv) 
that regular updates will be provided to Cabinet, Council, Overview
& Scrutiny and Audit & Governance Committee on how we are
working to deliver best value for our residents across the council
following quarterly meetings with MHCLG.
