For the reasons set out in
the report and its appendices Cabinet RESOLVED to Agree to:
 

i) 
Newham’s Borough of Sanctuary Strategy, which sets out our
vision for Newham as a beacon of sanctuary for people fleeing
violence and persecution.

ii) 
The actions to achieve this vision detailed in the ‘Borough
of Sanctuary in Practice’ section of the Strategy.

iii) 
To monitor and evaluate the impact of the strategy and to return
for decision making as and when resource implications are
identified.

a) 
Considered not applying to become recognised as a Borough of
Sanctuary. This was not taken forward as there is strong benefits
to being celebrated as a Borough of Sanctuary and joining the
network of other local authorities who have been awarded.
