Purpose
The report will seek Cabinet approval for a
Building Safety Strategy applicable to all residential blocks
within the HRA that are in scope of the Building Safety Act 2022.
The strategy has been drafted taking into account new legislation,
in particular the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety Act
2021
Decision
For the reasons set out in
the report and its appendices Cabinet RESOLVED to Agree to:
i)
The Residential Building Safety Strategy – High-rise
Buildings (at Appendix 1).
ii)
Delegate authority to the Director of Housing, in consultation with
the Lead Member for Housing Management and Modernisation, to update
and amend the strategy from time to time if changes in future
legislation.

Considered
a)
Do nothing - This is not an option. As a
landlord, the Council has a duty to ensure:

Its properties are maintained to a proper
standard and in line with legislative obligations and;
·
effective and appropriate management of
its available financial resources.
