Decision

To designate the statutory role of Section 151
(S151) Officer to the Head of Financial Services for a period of 2
weeks in an acting up capacity for the period 4-17 September
2023.

Reasons for the decision

The Local Government Act 1972, section 151
requires local authorities to appoint an Officer to be responsible
for the Council’s financial arrangements.

The Head of Financial Services is appropriately qualified to act up
in this role.

The interim arrangements for the statutory role of S151 Officer
will be confirmed by the Appointments and Employment
Committee.

Alternative options considered

There are no suitable alternatives as it is a
legal requirement to designate an officer as S151
Officer.
