To update the Audit Committee’s Terms of
Reference within the Constitution to comply with CIPFA’s 2022
Position Statement.

Reasons for the decision

The Annual report of the Audit Committee
approved on 15 March 2023 referenced the requirement for the Audit
Committee’s Terms of Reference to be updated to accord with
CIPFA’s 2022 Position Statement to ensure that a paragraph
confirming the Committee’s statement of purpose is included.
The Terms of reference have been updated to reference this
statement of purpose as shown in bold in the attached together with
other minor amendments. The amended Terms of Reference are
attached.

Alternative options considered

Not to amend the Audit Committee’s Terms
of Reference as detailed would mean that they do not accord with
CIPFA’s 2022 Position Statement and as such do not comply
with best practice.
