Content
Following debate it was RESOLVED that the
Children, Young people and Education Scrutiny Committee:
a)
Noted the content of the report
and presentation, acknowledging the progress made and the
challenges that remain.
b)
Understood and monitored the
rising NEET levels nationally and the disproportionate impact on
care- experienced young people.
c)
Advocate for the expansion of work
experience for care leavers to be prioritised for all opportunities
and strengthen new partnership initiatives with private
organisations to open new avenues for young people to
consider.
d)
Considered how scrutiny members
could facilitate the Pilot project for 10 young people including
employability workshops, workplace buddies, and provision of
clothing/travel support.
e)
Requested regular updates on
NEET/ETE performance and strategic developments, to maintain
oversight and ensure accountability.
f)
Request that officers continue to
explore and advocate for additional opportunities regarding how the
authority can continue to and enhance its contribution to the Care
Experienced Pledge.
