RESOLVED
KEY DECISION
That the Executive:

arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools as detailed in

b)

Schemes for the 2027 intakes as detailed in Appendix B
and Appendix C
c)

Relevant Area for schools in the authority
Reasons for
Recommendations
•
All admission authorities must
determine the admission arrangements for their schools annually. A
consultation took place as we propose to make changes to the way
waiting lists will operate for NNC schools.
•
The Council has moved to a new
operating system (Synergy) to improve the application
process.
The new system has enabled us to
change the way we run waiting lists. Where parents are refused
places at schools, their names will be added to the waiting list
automatically, so parents no longer have to remember to apply to go
back on to on a school’s waiting list at the end of each
term. The waiting list will continue throughout the academic year
until the end of the summer term. This means that they will be
considered again if places become available at a school. The
process will save time for staff in re-establishing waiting lists
at the start of each term and children will not be missed (if their
parents have forgotten to ask to go back on to a waiting
list).
•
It is a statutory duty for local
authorities to formulate and publish a co-ordinated scheme for the
admission of pupils to all mainstream schools in their
area.
•
The LA must review the relevant
area every two years.
Alternative Options Considered: No
alternative options have been considered because these are
statutory duties of the LA.
