To approve the Council’s Speed Limit Policy

RESOLVED

KEY DECISION

That the Executive:

i)          Approved the Speed Management Policy.

ii)        Delegated authority to the Executive Director of Place and Economy, in consultation with the Executive Member for Highways and Travel, to make minor and technical changes to the Policy from 2027 onwards provided such changes are recorded in a published delegated decision record and do not materially alter the way in which the Council sets and manages speed limits.

Reasons for Recommendations: This Policy documents how the Council delivers effective speed management across North Northamptonshire. It provides clarity around decision making and options that are considered, as well as being aligned to the Council’s Corporate goals and its Network Management Plan.

Alternative Options Considered: There are no alternative options. This Policy serves to lay out current practice in a clear and transparent document. The alternative option would be to continue operating without a published document, leading to lack of transparency around how Speed Limit Management is delivered in North Northamptonshire.
