Approval of the Carbon Management Plan (CMP) Annual Report 2025/26 and provide permission to publish the report on the Council’s website. 

Reasons for the decision

The CMP Annual Report is an information only report monitoring progress toward the delivery of the Carbon Management Plan Programme, no formal report has come forward to the Executive. The Executive Member has been briefed and has signed off the report. 

Reasons for the decision:

•         The CMP Annual Report sets out progress on the key areas of focus for the Council to achieve its target to be carbon neutral by 2050.

•         The CMP Annual Report supports the Council’s ambition to protect and enhance our countryside and local environment and take action on climate change as set out in the Corporate Plan.

•         Whilst the projects within the CMP require financial investment, they will provide both operational efficiencies, as well as financial and carbon savings.

•         The updates set out in the report compliment a number of existing environmental policies, such as the Climate Change Strategy, Pollinator Strategy, Tree Management and Care Policy, and Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
