Decision

RESOLVED: That the Forum:

NOTED the Update.

Reasons for recommendations:

•           The ongoing reduction of 20% movement relating to the historic commitments of the Central School Block, specifically funding linked to premature retirement costs.

•            Under DfE methodology, the Central School Block is made up of funding for ongoing responsibilities and historic commitments.  DfE guidance confirms LA [Local Authorities] can submit business cases for adjustments in the block if costs are higher than funding.

•            For 2026-27 North Northamptonshire submitted a business case to retain premature retirement allocation at historical level.  The business case was accepted by the DfE and the revised DSG allocation results in an additional £62.8k.

•            The Council is proposing to submit a business case for 2027-28 to bridge this reduction in CSSB Historical Commitment to the DfE.
