Employment Committee

The Employment Committee is responsible for key decisions regarding senior council staff appointments, disciplinary matters, and pay. It handles the advertising, selection, and interviewing process for roles such as the Head of Paid Service, Directors, and the Monitoring Officer, with the Head of Paid Service appointment requiring full Council approval. The committee also considers and determines appeals related to dismissals, bullying, harassment, and grievances for senior officers. Additionally, it reviews redundancy and early retirement proposals for specific senior roles and approves pay scales, honoraria, and acting up payments in line with council policy.
