Purpose

Acceptance of the Grant funding provided to PCC from Sports England for the refurbishment of Jack Hunt swimming pool.
 

Decision

Cabinet RESOLVED to:

1. Acceptance of funding of £794,000 from Sport England specifically for the refurbishment of Jack Hunt Swimming Pool.
2. To recommend to Full Council to approve additional capital funding request of £2,200,000 for the undertaking of the refurbishment project for the 27/28 Financial year. This provides a total budget cost of £3,800,000 made up of £794,000 Sport England’s Funding, £806,000 existing capital allocation and the further £2,200,000.
3. To approve the council to progress and deliver a procurement exercise for the delivery of works relating to the refurbishment of the Jack Hunt Swimming Pool and to agree delegated authority for the Executive Director of Place and Economy in conjunction with the Executive Director of Corporate Services, to authorise the award of a contract for the works and consultancy services relating to the refurbishment of the Jack Hunt Swimming pool, subject to approval by procurement, finance and legal services, The procurement will be conducted in accordance with the applicable procurement legislation and the council’s contract rules.
4. To delegate authority to the Executive Director of Place and Economy (in consultation with the Executive Director of Corporate Services) to take all such steps necessary to deliver the recommendation above, including the award, variation (s), and extension of the contract (s) to the successful bidder in accordance with the principles set down in this report but provided that the value of the contract shall not exceed £3,800,000;
5. To approve the use of reserves to fund the revenue implications of up to £375,000 for business interruption losses from the operator due to the period of closure for 24 weeks in order to deliver the works.
