Purpose
The Council is proposing to introduce At Any
Time ‘double yellow line’ waiting restrictions the
complete length of Lower Sunbury Road and part of Lower Hampton
Road, between the traffic signals at Upper Sunbury Road junction
and the borough boundary with Spelthorne.
This follows numerous complaints regarding the parking of vehicles
over the last year, some of which are large, resulting in
significant road width reduction and potential for collisions to
occur between on-coming vehicles. Loading and unloading is
permitted to take place on the double yellow lines.

The SSA Executive Director of Environment and
Community Services:
- Notes the outcome of the statutory consultation outlined in
APPENDIX C of the report
- Agrees to the implementation of the scheme, albeit with some
lengths of parking retained to overcome concerns raised by
residents and businesses on Platts Eyott Island (areas to be
identified by scheme engineer on site prior to works being
undertaken)
- Agrees to monitor the road following the introduction of the
revised yellow line layout to ensure that the remaining parking
poses no risk to other road users.
- Agrees to the making of a Traffic Management Order under Section
6 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 for the yellow lines as
detailed within the report (this order will cover the extent of the
road – this will allow for the yellow lines to be extended if
necessary should issues arise without the need for further
statutory consultation).
