Purpose

To approve a Direct award of a contract for
equipment for adult social care services due to unavoidable urgency
pursuant to paragraph 13 of Schedule 5 of the Procurement Act.
 
Reason for
Urgency
 
It was considered impracticable to defer this
decision until the next scheduled meeting as the Council needs to
immediately provide critical services to residents using a new
contractor, due to the imminent failure of the current contractor.
These arrangements will allow for immediate equipment provision as
well as creating the opportunity for an orderly transition.

The Chief Executive has approved as an urgent
decision following consultation with the Leader of the Council, the
Director of Law & Governance and the Chair of the Adult Social
Services, Health & Housing Committee.
