Purpose
In Summer 2022, the Council undertook a
consultation on parking layout changes along part of Windmill Road.
Due to the concerns raised it was agreed to place the scheme on
hold pending a decision on the future of the Burtons Road traffic
reduction scheme as this was experimental at the time.
The Burtons Road scheme became permanent in January 2023 and
following from this the Council wanted to progress road safety and
traffic management measures for Windmill Road. Taking into
consideration comments previously made, an informal consultation
was undertaken in June 2023 on a package of traffic management
measures. In light of comments received to this informal
consultation, a number of amendments were made to the measures and
an agreement was made in October 2023 (see background document) to
proceed to statutory consultation on the proposals as outlined in
APPENDIX A
Content
The SSA Executive Director of Environment and
Community Services:
i) Notes the results of the statutory consultation detailed in
section 7.2 and APPENDIX C.
ii) Agrees to makes the relevant order under Section 6 of the Road
Traffic Regulations Act 1984 for the ‘At Any Time’
waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) as shown on the drawing
in APPENDIX D.
iii) Agrees to the changes to the existing traffic calming measures
as detailed within the report.
