Purpose

The Council has received requests primarily
from parents of the local schools for improved crossing facilities
on Shacklegate Lane. A review of conditions has shown that traffic
volume can be high at peak times and crossing demand on the two
existing traffic islands is such that more formal crossing
facilities can be justified.

Content

The SSA Executive Director of Environment and
Community Services:

i) Notes the representations received to the informal public
consultation detailed in Section 7.

ii) Agrees to proceed with the zebra crossing close to the junction
of Elmtree Road, with a view that this scheme is monitored
following implementation and a decision taken on the Church Road
crossing once the monitoring review is completed.

iii) Agrees to the advertisement of a notice under Section 23 of
the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 for the zebra crossing and
associated markings.
