Purpose

Concerns have been raised about the hazards
for pedestrians including school children, crossing the wide flared
junction on Ormond Avenue at its junction with High Street,
Hampton. The existing road layout encourages drivers turning
into/out of Ormond Avenue to do so at speed and potentially not
give priority to crossing pedestrians. This junction is used as a
crossing point throughout the day between school sites and the need
for improvement was raised within the School Travel Plan.

Content

The SSA Director of Environment and Community
Services:

i) notes the representations received to the informal public
consultation;

ii) approves the formal advertisement of statutory notices
S.90A-90I Highways Act 1980 to introduce a new vertical traffic
calming feature on the public highway; and

iii) approves the introduction of highway improvements as shown on
the plan 2381-SSPH3-TP-GA-RES 1 attached at APPENDIX A.
