Purpose

An update on the review of the vehicle
crossover policy.

Content

RESOLVED that the Transport & Air
Quality Committee:
 
i. 
Approves amendments to the Council’s vehicle (pavement)
crossover application criteria as outlined ithe paper.
ii. 
Approves that no existing unauthorised crossover shall be replaced
by an authorised crossover unless the requirements set out in
recommendation a) are met and, in addition, non-permeable hard
landscaping is replaced by permeable surfacing including soft
landscaping as described in paragraph 7.3;
iii. 
Instructs the Director of Environment and Community Services, in
discussions with the Director of Finance as may be necessary, to
review the fees for crossover applications, as described in section
9;
iv. 
Refers the new highway authority requirements for the consideration
of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sport
Committee.
v. 
Reappraise crossover design and construction guidelines to maximise
benefits for pedestrians.
