Purpose

To agree the adoption of the Guidance document
which sets expectations for high quality engagement from
applicants. The document defines what is expected from good
engagement, includes the identification of the types of community
groups who should be included, provides guidance on what an
engagement strategy should include and how it should be
delivered.

Content

RESOLVED: That the committee,
1. 
Agree adoption of Raising the Bar Guidance (Appendix 1) to
support the Council’s commitment that residents will have the
opportunity to be involved in what is built in their
neighbourhood.
 
2. 
Delegate authority to the Head of Spatial Planning to
approve and publish the final version of the Guidance which will
include minor working, digital presentation and graphical changes in consultation
with the Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and
Sports Committee.
 
3. 
Agree that once the Raising the Bar Guidance has been
published, the Head of Spatial Planning will be authorised to seek
approval for any future updates to the Raising the Bar Guidance in
consultation with the Chair of the Environment, Sustainability,
Culture and Sports Committee, to address any future changes in
policy Guidance and/or the statutory development plan.
