The Reasons are:

A 12 month extension to the Family Keyworker service is requested in line with provision included in the original contract award.

Options considered and rejected were:

·      Insource service delivery to Salford City Council when the current contract ends on 31 March 2025.

·      Decommission the service when the current contract ends on 31 March 2025.

Commissioners have reviewed the options and associated benefits and risks for the Family Keyworker Service from April 2025. Based on this, the option recommended is:

·      Extend the current contract for 12 months at the current contract value of £200,000 funded through the Adult and Children’s pooled budget (Helping Families), aligned with Salford’s new Family Help model.

Assessment of Risk:

If the contract is not extended there may be reduced capacity to work with children, young people and their families who need ‘more help’ to enable them to thrive.

The source of funding is:

Children and Families Grant to the value of £200,000 per annum.
