Title: Eccles Town Centre - Strategic Acquisition
I, Councillor Tracy Kelly, Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, in exercise of the powers contained within the City Council’s constitution do hereby;
- Approve the provisionally agreed Heads of Terms for the proposed strategic acquisition at Eccles Town Centre.
- Approve the direct appointment of Connel Brothers to demolish the property once full vacant possession is secured for the reasons detailed in the report
- Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Place and the Section 151 officer to negotiate and finalise the commercial arrangements of this transaction and all other necessary ancillary agreements to allow the completion of the acquisition and the demolition arrangements as detailed in this report.
- Authorise the City Solicitor to progress and complete the associated legal formalities and the taking of all steps required to give effect to the above recommendations.
The Reasons:
To demolish a derelict office building and incorporate the site into the City Council’s exiting land ownership to help deliver the Council’s strategic vision for the area.
