I, Councillor Tracy Kelly, Statutory Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, in exercise of the powers contained within the City Council Constitution, do hereby approve:
The request for additional discretionary assistance (£15,592.72) in excess of the value permissible under policy (£50,000). The total value of discretionary assistance requested will be £65,592.72, including VAT, via a legal charge is £65,592.72.
The Reasons are:
This approval will support a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) policy exception allowing Salford City Council to apply greater flexibility for Individual 11 which will enable the recommended adaptations to be completed thus promoting Individual 11 health, wellbeing and independence.

This report considers adaptations required to a property to meet Individual 11’s needs. Total cost of the works proposed is £95,592.72 (including a £10K contingency) and it is proposed this is met by £30,000 mandatory DFG, £50,000 discretionary DFG (permissible under policy) and a further £15,592.72 additional discretionary DFG.
It has been confirmed that there is £94,733.44 of equity in the property and the discretionary assistance (£65,592.72) will be secured by way of a legal charge.
Costs will be met from the Disabled Facilities Grant.
