The Reasons are:

The purpose of this report is to seek to request an extension to the current contract for the design and installation of roof mounted Solar PV at estate and Salford Community Leisure buildings 2025/26 Programme.

There is provision within the current contract to extend the agreement for a further period from ?03/08/2026? to ?30/10/2026?.

Salford City Council (SCC) is looking to install roof mounted solar PV at an additional three sites across the city to increase local renewable energy generation and increase the flexibility of local energy supply as part of its contribution towards Greater Manchester’s target of becoming a carbon-neutral city region by 2038.

Options considered and rejected were:

The only other option that would be available would be to go out to tender however he current contractor is already mobilised and operating across the existing sites.  Extending the contract twill avoid additional mobilisation costs and will ensure the continuity of delivery.

Assessment of Risk:

The programme?has?a risk register in place and mitigation measures.

?

The programme is?low risk?as the roof and structural surveys that are to be undertaken will de-risk the sites by?identifying?whether they are able to?proceed?as planned and highlight any site constraints.

??

The current contractor is already mobilised and operating across the existing site this will avoid additional mobilisation costs and will ensure the continuity of delivery. If we do not take this approach the risk is that we will delay the installation of?additional?renewable energy assets and associated budget and carbon savings for the council.
