About

The Governance Committee leads on the Council's standards, ethics, and probity, overseeing conduct for councillors and employees. It promotes a culture of openness and accountability, manages training on ethical standards, and maintains registers of interests. The committee also has an audit role, providing assurance on risk management, internal controls, and financial reporting. It reviews reports from internal and external auditors and ensures council assets are safeguarded and proper accounting records are maintained. The committee's work affects all councillors and employees, and its decisions are subject to the Council's Constitution.
