About

The Cabinet is Stockport Council's primary decision-making body, responsible for the strategic management of council services. It comprises a Cabinet Leader and seven Cabinet Members, each overseeing a specific service area.

Most significant decisions are made collectively by the Cabinet, though individual members can make decisions within their portfolios. The Cabinet usually meets every six weeks in public. Members of the public can submit written questions in advance on matters within the Cabinet's powers, excluding confidential or legal issues. Key decisions are listed in a monthly Forward Plan, providing at least 28 days' notice.
