The Marple Area Committee represents the Marple North and Marple South & High Lane wards. It considers public questions on matters within its powers, except legal or confidential issues. The committee also administers a £3000 ward fund for community projects, allowing local groups to apply for funding. It has powers to determine certain planning applications and can call up applications normally handled by planning officers. Members of the public can address the committee for up to three minutes on planning applications, either in support or objection. Additionally, the committee holds an Open Forum for local groups to present issues affecting the community.
