Purpose

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is planning to
replace the existing Off-Road Firefighting vehicles with new fleet,
which is essential for addressing operational requirements within
Surrey and surrounding areas. Upgrading the fleet is necessary
investment to improve firefighting effectiveness, ensure the safety
of personnel, and meet the growing demands of wildfire operations
in a changing climate.
The route to market was mini-competition
through the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service
Framework Agreement DS339-20.
The Services Capital Plan has an allocated
funding of £1.4 million in 2027/28 for this replacement.

Service with two Off-Road Firefighting vehicles.

The successful bidder offered
the most economically advantageous tender in line with the
requirements of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
 

Alternative options considered

Alternative routes to market have been
considered ,as well as the option of meeting the project need in a
different way.  It has been determined
that the procurement of two Off-Road Firefighting vehicles offers
the best outcomes to the Authority and residents at this time.
