Purpose

Cabinet is asked to approve the allocation of capital funding from the existing Minor Capital Works Education Maintenance Budget for 2026/27 to deliver the proposed fire safety works at the Winston Churchill School.

Decision

RESOLVED:

1. That Cabinet approves the allocation of capital funding from the existing Minor Capital Works Schools Budget allocation for 2026/27 to complete the proposed fire safety works at The Winston Churchill School.

1. That Cabinet approves modification to the current contract to include the increased contract value, and extension to the term of the contract to cover the period of the works.

Reasons for Decisions:

Approving the recommendations in this report will enable the Council to:

• Ensure a safe learning and working environment that aligns with the school’s existing design, including appropriate building compartmentation to contain potential fire risks.
• Protect the health and safety of pupils, staff and other stakeholders
• Minimise the likelihood of significant collateral damage in the event of a fire.
• Maintain and protect the building asset, providing a fit for purpose facility for future years.
