The Cabinet Member for Children, Families & Lifelong Learning

1. Agreed that the proposal to amalgamate Merrow Church of England Controlled Infant School and Merrow Junior School will not proceed at this time. It is acknowledged that deciding not to proceed with an amalgamation proposal at this time does not prevent this proposal from being reviewed or pursued by the new West Surrey unitary council in the future.
2. Agreed that the feasibility of relocating Merrow C of E Infant School to the Merrow Junior School site should be investigated, with a view to establishing whether both schools can operate from a shared building while continuing as separate schools under the current Federation arrangements..
3. Agreed to delegate decision making on the relocation of Merrow C of E Infant School, should this be feasible, to the Executive Director for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning, as this proposal is outside of the Department for Education’s statutory process for making significant changes to maintained schools.
