Purpose

To decide whether to grant a new lease in respect of The Redoubt at Harwich.

Decision

(a)     To agree, in principle, the granting a new lease in respect of The Redoubt, Main Road, Harwich; and

(b)     To approve the completion of a new lease over The Redoubt, on the terms set out in the Officer’s report and in particular Appendices A & B and should it be required, to authorise the Corporate Director for Operations and Delivery to agree any other terms, as he considers appropriate.

Reasons for the decision

To allow the continued operation of the site by The Harwich Society.

Granting a new lease will facilitate the Harwich Society in accepting grant funding so refurbishment works can be carried out to the property, and they can continue to operate it as a historic attraction for Harwich.
