Purpose
Tarchon Energy has undertaken non-statutory consultation on a proposal for an undersea interconnector cable between the UK and Germany. The proposal seeks to make landfall on land South of Harwich and then run unground cables inland to a Converter Station south of Manningtree – somewhere around Horsley Cross and Lt Bromley, in the vicinity of the East Anglian Connection Node proposed by National Grid.
As a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, Tendring District Council is a consultee only and the planning process and decision is one for central government, administered through the Development Consent Order (DCO) process.
Authority for Delegated Decision:
Part 3, Schedule 3 – Responsibility for Executive Functions delegated to Officers paragraph 4.3 (1) – the Corporate Director has delegated authority to discharge executive functions within their respective service areas (Part 3.38). All delegations are subject to consultation where considered appropriate in the circumstances (paragraph 4.3 (4(ii) – Part 3.39).
