Purpose
The consideration of the complaint by the Housing Ombudsman identified a service failing and as part of their orders to the Council a payment in the sum identified was considered appropriate.
Decision
To authorise a payment in the sum of £50 to a complainant in accordance with an order from the Housing Ombudsman due to a finding of failings by the Council in the case concerned.
Alternative options considered
The non-payment of the proposed sum was considered. However, this was discounted as compliance with Housing Ombudsman orders involves adhering to the Complaint Handling Code, which has been a statutory requirement on the Council from 1 April, 2024.
