Purpose
A project has been scoped to replace the stagings under 71 huts at The Leas. It is around 3 years since the rolling replacement programme here was stopped and TDC are now in a position to carry out the next phase.
A Request For Quotations exercise has been carried out for the fabrication and supply of the upright posts needed to carry out this work. The submissions have been evaluated and Frank Halls & Sons Ltd has received the highest overall score.
Once the upright posts are received, the Council's internal engineering team will carry out the installation, with the cost of these post and the wider materials and services required for this project coming from the Beach Hut / Seafront Investment Budget - with the agreement of the Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Public Realm.
Decision
To proceed with Frank Halls & Son Ltd to fabricate and supply the posts to replace the stagings under 71 beach huts at The Leas in Frinton-on-Sea.
Alternative options considered
This project will mean the stagings at The Leas are in a good condition and the new Unitary Council will be able to continuing licencing beach hut sites here without worrying about further investment for the life of the new stagings - which is anticipated to be a minimum of 15 years and likely longer.
