Standards Committee

The Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct for Thanet District Council members and co-opted members, as well as advising and assisting Parish and Town Councils and their councillors. It advises the District Council on its Members Code of Conduct, provides training, and helps members observe their codes. The committee monitors the effectiveness of the Code of Conduct, manages complaint arrangements, and reviews procedures for registering interests and declaring gifts. It also grants dispensations for members to participate in decision-making where their involvement might otherwise be restricted, and oversees the council's complaints procedure, including ombudsman investigations.
