About
The Audit Committee provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of Thurrock Council's financial management, risk management, and internal controls. It reviews internal and external audit plans and reports, including progress on recommendations. The committee also approves the annual statement of accounts, ensuring appropriate accounting policies are followed. It scrutinises the council's control environment, anti-fraud measures, and relationships with audit and inspection agencies, advising the Council and Cabinet as appropriate.
