Summary

...to generate capital for council funds, the council approved the disposal, via freehold sale or long lease, of the surplus former Park store building at Hawkenbury, delegating authority to relevant officers to negotiate and finalise the transaction.

Full council record

Purpose

It is
proposed to dispose of the former Park store at Hawkenbury by means
of a freehold sale or a long lease. It is in need of significant
repairs but the investment required would not produce an
appropriate return on that expenditure. It is considered more
pragmatic to dispose of the building an enable a new owner to
repair it for their own purposes.

Decision

RESOLVED –

That the disposal of the property referred to in the
report and appendices be approved.

That the Head of Economic Development and Property
in consultation with the Director of Finance, Policy and
Development, the Monitoring Officer and the Cabinet Member for
Finance and Property be granted delegated authority to negotiate
and agree the proposed transaction be approved.

That the Head of Mid Kent Legal Services is
authorised to negotiate and complete all necessary and ancillary
legal documentation and formalities to give effect to the
recommendation be approved.

REASON FOR DECISION:   The sale of this asset would
realise a Capital sum for Council funds.
