Purpose
RTWT
BID is coming to the end of its first 5 year term and a renewal
ballot will be held in February 2024.
The report will outline the process for the ballot including the
role of the Council and will also provide a recommendation about
the Council’s support for the BID’s second
term.
Decision
RESOLVED –
1. That the work that is being
undertaken by Royal Tunbridge Wells Together (RTWT) is endorsed to
prepare a second term Business Plan for the Business Improvement
District (BID) be approved.
2. That
authority is delegated to the Director of Finance, Policy and
Development (s151 Officer) to cast the Council’s votes in
favour of the BID at ballot be approved.
3. That
if there is a successful Yes vote for the BID, that the Council
enters into an Operating Agreement and a Baseline Agreement with
RTWT be approved.
4. That
authority is delegated to the Director of Finance, Policy and
Development (s151 Officer), in consultation with the Cabinet Member
for Economic Development to sign off the operational and Baseline
Agreements with RTWT be approved.
5. That
£15,000 is contributed per annum to the BID from the Economic
Development budget to deliver the Christmas Lights be
approved.
REASON FOR DECISION: To continue the good
relationship between the Council and RTWT Bid to deliver a range of
joint projects and provide continuing support to the town
centre.
