Purpose

To
consider and make recommendations on the future of 3 public
conveniences within the Borough of Tunbridge Wells.

Decision

RESOLVED –

1.
That the closure of the Crescent Road Public
Conveniences in line with the conditions outlined in 4.2(a) of the
report with a view to demolishing this toilet block be
approved.

2.
That the Council’s Estates Department work
with Paddock Wood Town Council to explore the option for them to
take on the ownership of their public toilets be
approved.

3.
That notice is served to terminate the lease of the
public conveniences granted by Cranbrook and Sissinghurst Parish
Council to the Council which expired on 1 August 2021 be
approved.

Reasons for the decision

The
closure of the Crescent Road, the transfer of ownership at Paddock
Wood and the termination of the lease at Sissinghurst would result
in savings in maintenance and running costs to the Council for all
three public conveniences.

Alternative options considered

No
nothing and continue with the management and running costs of nine
public conveniences.
