Purpose

Cabinet is recommended to approve publication
of 1 year Marmot report, and approve approach to Marmot delivery
for 25-26.

Cabinet:
 

(1)          
approved the proposed approach for delivering on the
Marmot commitments in year 2 and beyond;
 

(2)          
approved the publication of the Marmot 1 year
review; and
 

(3)          
delegated to the Corporate Director for Public
Health to make final presentational changes ahead of publication
and launch of the Marmot 1 year review.
 
Options & Alternatives
Considered
 
Expand the Marmot work to
encompass new accelerator areas. This option is not recommended
given Marmot has already been embedded in key council strategies, and expanding the Marmot work could risk
duplication of effort. 
 
Given that Marmot has been
embedded in most council work, end all Marmot related work in
2025-26. This option is not recommended as there remain areas, e.g.
prevention strategy, that would benefit from Marmot principles
being embedded, and Marmot still provides an opportunity to drive
forward and showcase council work around health equity in limited
circumstances (e.g. to partners, within existing accelerator
areas).
