Options & Alternatives Considered

To cease monitoring the delivery of the Housing Strategy: While local authorities are required to produce a Homelessness Strategy, there is no statutory requirement to maintain a broader Housing Strategy. However, this option is not recommended. Given the increasing pressures of the housing crisis, this would risk a return to a "business as usual" approach at a time when sustained focus and coordinated action are needed most.

Ongoing monitoring of the Housing Strategy enables the Council to track progress against its priorities, assess the effectiveness of interventions, and respond proactively to emerging challenges. It also ensures continued accountability for delivering strategic housing outcomes and supports informed decision-making to improve services and outcomes for residents.
