Purpose
Following the consultation carried out for the Fillongley Crossroads CRS scheme and objections received, the Portfolio Holder Decision was approved and published on 29/04/2026. Subsequently the Decision was called in and so this report will be submitted as per the requirements of the call-in process.
Decision
Communities Overview and Scrutiny upheld the call in and referred the recommendation to Cabinet to reconsider the decision.
Recommendation: To assess the merits and practicality of alternative measures, including but not limited to:
- Commit to work with Parish council, residents, local member(s) and the Portfolio Holder.
- Traffic regulation order to change junction from a Give Way Junction to a Stop Junction
- Review speed limit from 40mph to 30mph for approaching the village in a south westerly direction on the Nuneaton Road
- Install larger village signs and white gates at entrance to Fillongley at both ends (i.e. Meriden Road and Nuneaton Road entrances)
- Install additional signage along the route to encourage drivers to slow down
- Installation of rumble strips and white lines on approaches to village on Meriden Road and Nuneaton Road and the junction.
- Installation of box junction or raised table at junction
- Undertake an investigation into the feasibility of a mini roundabout
- Investigate the potential use of average speed cameras.
