Decision

RESOLVED: Cabinet approved the Asset Management Plan as appended to the report.

REASONS RESOLVED:

1)     The Council has an extensive property portfolio and delivers a wide range of service to the residents of West Northamptonshire. In light of wider financial pressures, and in pursuit of service improvement and efficiencies, it is important that there are key priorities and objectives that will inform effective decision making.

2)     The proposed plan is the most cost-effective way to manage Council assets, maximising value and ensuring that assets serve community interests effectively.

3)     By adopting this plan, the Council will be better positioned to meet legislative requirements and enhance the benefits to the community. It also supports the Council to demonstrate compliance with its best value duty under Section of the Local Government Act 1999.

4)     The recommendations are consistent with previous decisions regarding asset optimisation and community engagement.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS: The Cabinet could choose not to adopt the AMP, however by not doing so this will limit the opportunity to reflect service needs, financial priorities and emerging opportunities in respect of the Council’s portfolio of properties.
